At the beginning of each Fall semester, FJIL invites the students from the top ten percent of the previous 1L class (based only on grades from the previous Fall and Spring semesters) to join FJIL.
Each summer, FJIL will conduct a Write-On Competition, open to rising 2L, 3L, and LLM students who have satisfactorily completed Legal Research & Writing and have a grade point average above 2.0. After thorough review by the FJIL Editorial Board, the authors of the best submissions are invited to join FJIL. In addition, the author of the most exceptional submission will receive the Outstanding Commentary Award and have his/her submission published in a future issue of the Journal.
As a co-curricular organization, FJIL allows its members the opportunity to earn up to 3 credits for Journal-related work. 1 credit may be earned for writing a case comment (a prerequisite to Journal membership). A 2nd credit may be earned for service on the Journal’s Editorial Board. Finally, a 3rd credit may be earned for submission of a Note that satisfies FJIL writing standards.
